Description:
Gas relay is a protection device for oil-immersed transformers and on-load switches with oil conservator. When a fault occurs inside the transformer (or on-load switch) and the gas generated by the decomposition of the transformer oil exceeds a certain amount, the signal contact of the relay is turned on and an alarm signal is issued. When a serious fault occurs inside the transformer (or on-load switch), there will be a surge of transformer oil, which will generate oil flow in the pipeline, impulse the baffle of the relay, and when the baffle reaches a certain limit position, the relay will trip The contact is connected and the power supply of the transformer is cut off to protect the transformer. If the oil level of the transformer is lowered due to oil leakage, the relay will also send out an alarm signal
 
The relay that monitors the tap changer is considered to be a tap changer protection relay and an oil flow relay. This is a monitoring device applied to an oil-immersed tap changer with an oil conservator, and its role is to protect the tap changer. And the transformer is protected from damage. When the oil flow of the oil conservator exceeds the limit, the monitoring relay will act and disconnect the connection between the tap changer and the transformer.
 
The gas relay is divided into on load gas relay (the radius of oil pipe is generally 50mm or 80mm) and body gas relay (the radius of oil pipe is generally 80mm). There are different models of gas relay, such as float type, baffle type, open cup type and so on.
 
QJ series gas relay is a main protection device for internal faults of oil-immersed transformers and oil-immersed on-load tap-changers. The gas relay is installed on the connecting pipeline between the transformer and the oil conservator, and the oil is decomposed when an internal fault occurs in the transformer. When gas is generated or the oil flow is surging, the contact of the gas relay is activated to connect the designated control circuit, and promptly send out an alarm signal or automatically cut off the transformer.
The relay shall be installed in the connecting pipe between the transformer and the oil conservator. The pipe should be as long and straight as possible and must be inclined upward, towards the conservator, at an angle of 3 to 7 degrees from the horizontal.
The transformer side of the relay shall have a straight pipe section at least five times the inner diameter of the pipe, and the oil conservator side shall have a straight pipe section at least three times the inner diameter of the pipe.
A machined surface is provided on the relay body for testing the installation of the relay. Whether in the inclined direction or at right angles to the pipe, the relay should be horizontal.

installation and application
(1) The overall size of QJ425 Relay is shown as Fig. Above.
(2) The Gas relay is fitted in pipeline between the tank and conservator. pay special attention to the arrow on the housing the conservator.
(3) For filling oil, please all valves in the pipeline between the tank and conservator, blled the housing via the bleeder and then closed.
(4) Air pumped form the air plug, the reliability of "Signal" contacting motion can be checked.
(5) Cover twisted down, pin prossed, the reliability of "Trip" contacting motion can be checked.
5,Note
(1) Before the newlyproduced relay installed and used, the relay chip must be taken out and the locked banding used during the transportation should be demolished.
(2) The Gas relay must be checked by special device, then can mounted.
(3) The spring on the baffle plate can changed the length, adjusting the value for tripping. The other parts of the Gas relay can`t change at will.
(4) Replacing or adding some parts near the permanent magnet and magnetic switch, the nonmagnetic material must be used.
(5) The permanent magnet can be not intensely vibratied or in strong magnetic field, The permissible operating temperature is from 40°C to 100°C.
(6) The magnetic switch can't dismantle and the end of leads can`t bend at will.
